Fantasy and Romantasy

Ortiz started writing romance in 2012 under the pen name J. Jaden, and has expanded into fantasy and romantasy with her first romantasy title The Enchanted Brothel.

The Enchanted Brothel

The Enchanted Brothel was written by Ortiz under her pen name, J. Jaden, as a nod to all the women who choose their own paths and live their lives unapologetically. The book is currently a zine and available at events, but will be released in September of 2026.

Welcome to the brothel!

Serena has no idea that the power humming through the walls of Fancy’s brothel is hers, or that the woman she trusts most is stealing it from her.

Collin has spent centuries as the last of the Lurians, an ancient bloodline from a hidden island in the Devil’s Sea. He thinks he’s alone. Then the ancestors’ screaming leads him to a small Oklahoma town and the one woman who could change everything.

Walking through the brothel doors, he expects an enemy. Instead, he finds Serena. She’s fierce, powerful, and completely unaware of who she is.

When he exposes the truth, he must face down a madam who’d rather destroy the magic than surrender it, and fight desire so consuming it could either save them or burn them alive.
